I will always remember the day my friend in secondary school told me “you should be a journalist.” “Why?” I asked, she said because you ask too many questions and that sometimes irritates people. However, my love for the field can be traced as far back as my childhood when I usually sat with my dad to listen to the BBC especially “Focus on Africa”.

I was born in Freetown where I have spent most of my life. I attended the Methodist Girls High School and the Albert Academy. After Secondary school, I tried to switch from the Arts to the Business field. This led me into the Institute of Advance Management and technology (IAMTECH) where I acquired a Diploma in Business Administrations.

My reading abilities however, can be traced as early as in primary school. I always read passages in class or speeches on special occasions in school. Somehow, my love for reading increased through the years. It was Four years ago however that I actually became a journalist.

I started first as a Reporter at the ABC Television in Freetown. My work at ABC TV exposed me to Television Broadcasting. Yet, I did not want to limit myself just to Television, I was eager to learn all the aspects of broadcasting. My quest to expand my talents and know more about broadcasting and journalism saw me gaining admission at Fourah Bay College. I started first by pursuing a diploma in Cultural Studies. Fortunately, for me it was that same time that the University’s Radio Mount Aureol was established. I expressed interest immediately, was trained as a continuity announcer first. I later became a newsreader and the producer and presenter of the Programme “Health Wise”. I later joined CTN as a volunteer a year ago and was later employed as staff.

I am currently a Presenter and News Reader. I also sometimes co - produce or act as assistant producer for some of the programmes aired on CTN. I am a passionate and adventurous person who loves people. This is the inspiration behind my work and love for the profession. I am a Christian, loves singing and traveling. Principal to everything is love for my culture, which makes me proud of my name “Bomkapre” I am an honours one student of Mass Communications, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. It is not easy to blend work and study. Nevertheless, I try to manage the two. Not to talk of the challenges women in the profession face everyday. I believe by God’s grace and with hard work to take it one day at a time.
