I was born in Freetown in 1976 at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital. I grew up with my parents and two brothers, and a sister. My dad picked up a job in Banjul the Gambia in 1978 as senior geography teacher at the St Peters Secondary School Lamin Village. I started my primary and secondary schooling at St. Peters Primary school Lamin Village where I passed my common entrance exams. My family relocated back to Freetown in 1988. I continued my senior school at the St Josephs secondary school Brookfields where I attained my GCE O’Levels in 1996. I entered the media in 1998 as a radio and television announcer for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service which is the state media. The war broke January sixth 1999 in Freetown. I went back to the Gambia and worked as librarian at St Peters Secondary School for five years. I came back to Sierra Leone in 2003 and worked at the SLBS as radio and television announcer and newsreader for three years. In 2006 I had my baby Michael after which I decided to apply as a journalist at Radio Democracy. I worked as reporter and presenter for their current affairs programme called “wetin de bi” (“What’s new”). Radio Democracy programmes are produced in Krio, which is the main local language in Sierra Leone. I later realized the Krio was affecting my English. In February 2007, I picked up another job with Cotton Tree News (CTN). CTN is base at Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone. I am working up to date as full time reporter, newsreader and producer for our weekly woman’s magazine program called “uman tok”. Uman tok is a twenty-five minutes package program that deals with issues affecting women. I love listening to music especially gospel songs.
