I am a native of Sierra Leone born in Pujehun District South of the Country. I am Muslim by religion belonging to a family of four and am the only son. After my primary and secondary education in the country side, i found myself in a teacher training college Freetown Teachers College in 2001 to pursue a three year Higher Teachers Certificate in secondary education. It was during this course work that, the motivation for journalism was captured. A joke I thought as much until it was actualized through the vibrant effort of the now BBC Sierra Leone Umaru Fofanah. This man gave me a first try and as often said “First impression goes a long way”. The trust and confident which he instilled in me couldn’t have been realized at a better time than now. I worked as a roving reporter for the United Nations Radio FM 103 visiting localities throughout the country covering issues on community development and peace building. This venture was maintained until I gained admission in the university of Sierra Leone Fourah Bay College in 2004 to pursue Bachelor of Arts degree Hons in Mass Communication. Shortly after I won admission into the university came the establishment of a teaching Radio Station Radio Mount Aureol 107.3. As a student I was appointed by the University to serve as programmes manager, which provided first hand training for my colleagues who were interested in making broadcasting an optional area of study like myself. This capacity I maintain in line with my course unto present day. I am currently working with the Cotton Tree News (Media for peace and human dignity) as producer and presenter of the programme titled Focus on Education and news reader attached to the morning sequence (CTN at Six). If I could say the truth in the face of right thinking people like you, it has been quite a huge task to compromise these assignments with my course work. But experience continues to triumph the challenges until I put the course to an excellent rest by by 2008/09 academic year.
