Freetown gets new Deputy Mayor and Chairman |

Councilor Gibrilla Kanu has been elected Deputy Mayor of the Freetown Municipality
The election was held at the Brima Eleganza Community Centre at Ambrose Street in Freetown. The Deputy Mayor said he was aware of the enormous challenges confronting him in his new assignment. He said he was always ready to face challenges for the benefit of the people and he called on the people to pay their taxes. He said taxation should not be seen as a burden but an obligation.The oath of office was administered by the Mayor of Freetown, Herbert George- Williams. Meanwhile, Councilor Mohamed Sesay was also elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council. The new Deputy Chairman said he was determined to work with his colleagues to implement community development programmes. He said the Western Area Rural District was faced with tremendous challenges.
