The Igbo Community in Sierra Leone says it does not support the coronation of an Igbo tribal Head or Nigerian national as paramount chief or traditional title holder in the country. The Igbo Union in a press release says the coronation of an Igbo tribal Head does not have the support of the Nigerian High Commission or the Igbo community as a whole. The union says it is distancing itself form the coronation. Nathaniel Maduabuchi Nwosu the newly crowned Eze Ndi Igbo Gburu Gburu of Sierra Leone told CTN that he did not initiate the idea of becoming what he called the ‘Eze Igbo in Sierra Leone’. He said it was the Igbo union that asked him to take the title. He said he was surprised that people who were not members of the union were saying they did not want him to be the Igbo tribal Head. Francis Onyeakwue Secretary General for the Nigerian National Union in Sierra Leone said the union was also dissociating itself from coronation. He said they did not recognize the title of the Eze Ndi Igbo Gburu Gburu of Sierra Leone.
