President of Sierra Leone Reporters Union says journalists and police need to know their roles and responsibilities in maintaining law and order.
Amara Samura made the statement ahead of a workshop to be organised by Reporters Union, Sierra Leone Police and UNDP on the fifteenth of December. He said the forum was aimed at creating mutual understanding between journalists and police. He said there had been misunderstanding between the police and the media. He said the Reporters Union was of the view that most journalists were not aware of the procedures used by the police to carry out investigations. Mr. Samura said the workshop would target forty journalists and twenty police officers across the country. He said they hoped to achieve effective collaboration between the police and the media.
