The Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister-(Two) Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning appeared before Parliament to answer questions from Members of Parliament.
Dr. Minkailu Bah made his second appearance before Parliament to answer supplementary questions posed by Honorable Robin Farley on the eleventh of this month. The questions bordered on the shift of date, inadequate exams materials and the delays in the conduct of the National Primary School Examination especially in Kailahun and the Kono districts. Responding to the questions, Dr. Minkailu Bah acknowledged that there were irregularities in the conduct of this year’s NPSE. But he however pointed out that the delays in the conduct of the NPSE were as a result of the late arrival of exams materials from WAEC headquarters in Ghana. Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister-(Two), Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning was asked to explain to Parliament the source and proof of Parliamentary approval for the part payment of four-point-five million dollars for a debt of twenty five million dollars the country owes Lebanese businessman, Mohamed Wanza. Responding, Momodu Kargbo said the four-point-five million dollars part payment made to Mohamed Wanza was sourced from the 2009 budget allocation. He said it was with parliamentary approval, as parliament had approved the 2009 budget.
