Many Sierra Leoneans are doubtful about the proposed referendum for the constitution amendment taking

place alongside the general Elections

Dr Peter Tucker is the Chairman of the proposed amendment last month; he announced that a referendum

would be held alongside the presidential and parliamentary elections.

But with several weeks gone, the commission is no longer sure of the date. In an interview with CTN, Dr

Tucker said the commission’s job is to draft the document. He said it is government’s responsibility to hand it

over to the National Electoral Commission to determine the date for a referendum Dr Tucker said that the final

copy of the document would be handed over to the government in the next two weeks

Meanwhile, the NEC has so far refused to comment on the proposed referendum. They say they will wait until

the document is handed over to them.
