Sierra Leone's Ambassador to the United States has signed a fifteen million United States Dollars agreement with the World Bank on behalf of the government at the country’s Washington Mission. Bockarie Stevens signed the agreement less than a week after signing a thirteen million United States Dollar agreement with the World Bank. The amount represents credit that the International Development Association (IDA) will be making available to Sierra Leone under the first phase of the West Africa Regional Fisheries Program. The fund is to strengthen the capacity of the government to manage its fisheries resources, as well as to reduce illegal fishing, and increase local value added on fish products. The fisheries project is designed to promote the economic development of the country in line with its development aspirations.
