The Global Economic Prospects for 2010 published by the World Bank says the global economic recovery that is now underway will falter this year because of waning fiscal stimulus.
The report released on Thursday says key indicators show progress in some countries in Africa, Europe, Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. It says Sierra Leone has been badly hit by the global credit crunch with rippling effect on investment. But it says that in 2010 Gross Domestic Product will grow by four point eight percent in sub Saharan African countries, including Sierra Leone. Reacting to the report, some business people in Freetown, especially those in the hotel and tourism sector say business in Sierra Leone has not been encouraging. They urged the government to implement policies and strategies to recover from the financial crisis.
