The Bo District Descendants Association has held its annual awards ceremony at the Bo town hall in Bo. The awards ceremony was to honour individuals for their dedication, commitment and contribution towards the development of the district. More than eighteen categories of awards were won by individual from diverse walks of life. Among the prominent awards were best medical doctor, best business man, best sportsman and best school of the year 2009. Patrick Jackema, CTN’s Bo district correspondent bagged the best journalist for the year 2009. Patrick Jackema said the award was in recognition for his hard work. He said recognizing his efforts as a journalist among other colleagues in Bo depicts a sense of appreciation of modern broadcast journalism in the post war district of Bo. Mr. Jackema pointed out that he has always strived to uphold the fundamental ethics of journalism which include neutrality, accuracy, balance, fairness and truth in the execution of his duty. The CTN’s award winner said it was time for his fellow journalists in Bo to work harder for the transformation of the district through credible information gathering and dissemination.
