Residents of the Waterloo community say they lack safe drinking water.

A resident of the community Alusine Kamara told CTN that the dam at a place called White Stone which supplies water to the community was not protected. He said the unsanitary state of the dam had made the water very unsafe to drink. Alhaji Alhaji Bangura is the Chief Administrator of the Western Area Rural District Council. He said the dam has been exposed due to the activities of wood-cutters and the unchecked population increase in the community. He said the council’s water project for the community is awaiting approval. Many communities in Sierra Leone, including in the capital Freetown, lack pipe borne water.
