Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair paid a one day visit to Sierra Leone.
According to State House sources, the former Premier had closed door talks with President Ernest Koroma and members of his cabinet. Mr. Blair’s visit was part of a three nation tour to assess the progress of his Africa Governance Initiative. The former British Prime Minister, also visited a local hospital in the populous east end of Freetown, where he informed patients about the government’s proposed free medical initiative for pregnant and lactating mothers. The visit was his third to the country since he stepped down as Prime Minister. Early last year, Mr. Blair was in Freetown to look at Sierra Leone’s tourism and investment potentials. He also made a passionate appeal on behalf of Sierra Leone at a Contact Group meeting and investors’ conference hosted by the Government of Sierra Leone in London last year.
