Chief Justice Ade Renner Thomas administered the oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony at State House. This event came hours after the National Electoral Commission declared him winner of the country’s presidential run-off election. Mr. Koroma won with nine hundred and fifty thousand, four hundred and seven votes while his rival Vice-President Solomon Berewa of the ruling Sierra Leone People's Party obtained seven hundred and eighty-nine thousand, six hundred and fifty-one votes.Dr. Christiana Thorpe is the Returning Officer of the National Electoral Commission.Earlier, the National Electoral Commission was asked to investigate reports of alleged ballots stuffing at some polling stations, where the turnout was reported as one hundred percent or more, compared to a national average of sixty-eight percent. The SLPP then sought an injunction to stop the publication of any further results. But by the time the High Court looked at the application and required its re-submission, the result had already been announced.
