A delegation from the United Nations Peace Building Commission (PBC) led by Ambassador John McNee, Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations, is visiting Sierra Leone. The delegation which comprised ambassadors of various nationalities will hold discussions with the government and its partners on ongoing activities of the Peace-building Commission and also assess progress on the country’s peace consolidation. They will also look at the peace building commission’s future contribution to key priority areas identified in the document marking the outcome of the June 2009 special session on Sierra Leone in New York. The session dealt with youth employment and empowerment, drug trafficking, transnational crime, good governance and rule of law. The delegation will meet with youth organizations, civil society organizations, artists, media institutions, the Anti Corruption Commission and the representatives of the leading political parties.
