A Four-man delegation from the United States of America is in Sierra Leone on an assessment mission for a possible partnership with the government to support the Agricultural Sector.

The delegation which is hosted by the Sierra Leone Centre for Agribusiness Development SLeCAD has already had series of meetings with the Agriculture Ministry and its partners as well as some farmers in Poultry farming in Freetown.

Martin Miller is the Chief Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Ministries in the USA and head of delegation.

He told CTN that if they successfully create a partnership with the government, they would provide very productive initiatives which farmers and the country could benefit from in developing the agricultural value chain.

Mr. Miller spoke about plans for a possible partnership and promise of support to the current Agribusiness centres or ABCs constructed by the government through the Smallholder Commercialization Program SCP. Amed Nanoh, Executive Secretary of the Sierra Leone Centre for Agribusiness Development SLeCAD said the delegation was a visionary team aimed at supporting the government’s agenda for change.

Mr. Namoh said the team would be taken around the country to explore the opportunities existing in the agricultural sector and the current effort made by the government to boost the agricultural sector.
