The Moyamba District Medical Officer, Dr. Adekali Kamara, has told CTN that the Government Hospital in the district was facing a serious water shortage.
Dr. Kamara said the hospital did not have access to pipe borne water supply and often depended on water wells located outside the hospital.
Dr. Kamara said the water situation often made work difficult for the medical staff of the hospital.
Pregnant women and lactating mothers admitted at the hospital say the water shortage could undermine the implementation of the free health care scheme.
Councillor Ishmael Momoh, Deputy Chairman of the Moyamba District Council, acknowledged the water crisis in the hospital but said that there were already contractors addressing the problem.
