The Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) has expelled its suspended Chairman, Mohamed Bangura and the Member of Parliament for Constituency Sixty-nine, Honourable Legacy Sankoh.
The Acting Public Relations Officer of the party, Munir Koroma, told CTN that the National Executive Council of the Party had unanimously decided to expel the two for what he described as their ‘continuous indiscipline and for publicly expressing their loyalties for other political parties’.
Mr. Koroma said its former Chairman Mohamed Bangura has publicly announced the formation of a political party without resigning from the PMDC; while the Honourable Sankoh had been secretly holding meetings and campaigns for the ruling All Peoples Congress as well as forming a pro- President Ernest Koroma group in Bo known as ‘the Pa in Yai’ (the Eyes of the President). He said the PMDC had would withdraw Honourable Legacy Sankoh’s representation in parliament.
When CTN contacted Honourable Sankoh to comment on his expulsion from the PMDC; he however declined.
But Mr. Mohamed Bangura said he welcomed the party’s decision, without surprise as according to him, it would help explain his case to the membership of the PMDC. Mr. Bangura accused the PMDC of being a party that has been transformed to what he called ‘the undemocratic club of Charles Margai’ (the Leader of the party).
