The Deputy Chairman of Education and Development of the Sierra Leone Gullah Kinship Association says their main agenda is to denounce violence and demonstrate their solidarity for the collective maintenance of peace in the country. Lamin Kamara made this statement on Tuesday during a peace building March ahead of this year’s elections, targeting different political parties, the Independent Media Commission, SLAJ, and NEC among others. About one thousand members of the association processed from the Sewa Grounds market to State House, chanting peace songs and holding placards with inscriptions preaching peace messages.

Mr. Kamara told CTN that different political parties and media institutions were targeted because they play a major role in the electioneering process in the country. He believed that a stake holder’s collective effort would save the country from what he referred to as political skirmishes in the country.

Mr. Kamara added that their next focus was to help in the development of different sectors like health, education, and agriculture in the country among others. Sierra Leone Gullah Kinship Association is a non political group established in about one hundred and eighty communities in the North and Western area of Sierra Leone.
