The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of Fourah Bay College (FBC) on Tuesday advised its members to withhold their services to the University until further notice.

The association commenced its strike action on Monday following the expiration of its twenty-one day strike notice last Friday.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, ASA says its demands that culminated in the issuance of the strike notice are yet to be addressed.

At a general meeting held on Monday, the Association resolved that the strike action would continue until its demands of increased salaries are met.

Last month, ASA asked for improved conditions of service with an increased salary package.

It proposed among other things that professors are to be paid seventeen million leones, while senior lecturers and lecturers are to receive between thirteen to nine million leones.

The association said those proposed salaries should be after all tax deductions.
